A little history (copied from the masungi’s website)

The Masungi Georeserve is a conservation area and a rustic rock garden tucked in the rainforests of Rizal. Masungi’s name is derived from the word “masungki” which translates to “spiked” – an apt description for the sprawling limestone landscape found within.

In this sanctuary, guests will be able to commune with nature, and reenergise themselves while doing so. Wander through our pathways for an encounter with wildlife and plant species. Enjoy a sandwich with a loved one at one of our rock peaks. Learn more about the history of the place introducing you to a community rich with heritage and life.

Experiencing Puerto Galera – Tukuran Falls

We arrived at Puerto Galera around 11 AM. We checked in at the Hotel, ate our lunch, change our outfits and get ready for our first activity – Tukuran Falls.

Ate Merlyn, the reservations officer from VM Beach Resort offered us a trip to Tukuran Falls including the Carabao Ride, Tamaraw Falls, Hanging Bridge and Virgin Island for 2000 pesos, all in (that’s all for the three of us). Ate Merlyn seems very kind and nice to us and since we don’t have enough time to negotiate with others, we all agreed to her offer.

We started our activity at 2PM. It is an hour and a half tricycle ride to Tukuran Falls. The sun is hot but is bearable. Along the way, we saw the famous Tamaraw Falls but we opted to head first at Tukuran since it is the farthest of all. The road going to Tukuran is a bit dusty and bumpy.

Upon arrival at the jump off, we have two options: (1) to ride a carabao which costs 400 pesos or (2) To walk for free. Carabao ride is included in our package so off we go!
